The 20th century has life yet. The August 2019 issue of Vogue Paris devotes nearly 50 pages of its issue to a full three decades from the past century, the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s in a sprawling cover story by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Drawing inspiration from Irving Penn, they sought out free spirits of all colors and stripes to fill the pages of the issue. “We found the people that inspire us today for their eccentric way of life,” said the photographers in a series of posts to Instagram. Enter Sid Simons, the stylish musician appears on page 118 alongside his wife and musician Foster James. Sid wears a virgin wool suit, and a printed silk georgette shirt by Vivienne Westwood. Together they cut an intriguing figure, the very sort about which readers will surely want to learn more. As for the rest of those thirty years, there are another 46 pages in the issue covering the very matter.
