Alas, poor Yorick! Shakespearean reference, tick. Elizabethan drama aside, the August 2019 issue of Vogue Italia provides a stage for Anok Yai to deliver a performance worthy of significantly more than polite applause if not a standing ovation. “Anok in Paris,” as the editorial by photographer Roe Ethridge and stylist Carlos Nazario is called does what it says on the tin. A dozen pages from the French capital train the spotlight on this season’s chicest outerwear. To that end, Anok (pictured) wears a double-breasted wool coat by GMBH over top a turtleneck and trouser from The Row. As for the skull in the plastic sack, t’is but a reminder of human mortality, something Prince of Denmark recognized all too well in Act 5, Scene 1 of Hamlet.
