Tempest has arrived. At long last! Riccardo Tisci’s second collection for Burberry takes its name from a most violent, windy storm, which reportedly comes as a nod to “contrasts in British culture and weather.” For all the contrasts, the harnessed tensions of Tisci’s collection for Autumn / Winter 2019 come together quite nicely in the newly released advertising campaign by photographer Nick Knight starring Alexis Chaparro and Anna Ross. The campaign owes its composition to a variety of sources, various screens and devices from smartphones to surveillance cameras to aerial drones and are captioned to be “set against a soundtrack by M.I.A.” Youth culture, in other words, has the floor and will be holding court all season long.
