Industria de Diseño Textil, S.A., better known as Inditex, is the world’s largest fashion group and also parent company to Zara. Despite recent investor disappointment at weaker-than-expected profit margin growth, the Spanish multinational remains a going concern. To that end, the Zara Man advertising campaign for Fall / Winter 2019 was released last week and stars Eli Epperson. Photographed in New York City by Gregory Harris, the campaign calls to mind another era entirely, perhaps a half century before today. The 1969 Dodge Super Bee featured in the campaign is one clue, but really the collection’s English tailoring coupled with a demonstrable punk rock ethos is what sets it apart from another routine advertising exercise. Eli for his part is the leading man in this time traveling series with one foot in the past and two fingers held up toward any future. It is a campaign for today, make no mistake, one which could well even raise the share price were sufficient sales to result.
