The first robin, the earliest leaf to fall, front-of-book advertising in December issues, each in their own way signal a change of season. The December 2019 issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK plays its part in this perennial ballet with a two-page spread of the Prada Resort 2020 advertising campaign, the right side (pictured) of which features Next’s very own Qun Ye features. Readers will recall the Chinese beauty from the lineup at Prada’s women’s Spring 2020 runway show back in September of this year. The collection reportedly described by Miuccia Prada as “the opposite of pretentious,” a veritable act of provocation in a world of unfettered adornment. That note is extended here by Japanese photographer Keizō Kitajima in which Qun Ye is captured cradling a bundle of flowers wrapped in newsprint, the back page of which bears the gently crumpled companion image to the campaign, and of course a pink leather handbag from the collection. It is a refreshing take, classic Prada, and a welcome entrance into the coming resort season.
