Apart the Texas Board of Education and its exponents, Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution enjoys near universal acceptance. Darwinism as it is commonly called refers to the ideas that describe the origins of species and organism through natural selection. Arguably one of the most profound theories to come out of the 19th century, evolution continues to resonate in the world of 2019 and as most recently as the newly released covers of Essential Homme featuring Dylan Christensen and Cole Etgen. Photographed by Victor Demarchelier and styled by Paul Sinclaire, the pair of covers for the Winter 2019 issue include a definition of the evolution, which is “the gradual development something, especially from a simple to a more complex form.” The very act of including the term on the covers suggests the evolved state of the subjects, both of whom are wearing Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. It certainly does not require any stretch of the imagination to conclude these boys are nothing if not complex forms.
