Were it not for “Old Town Road” and its attendant success, then cowboy hats and boots might well have stayed back at the ranch.“Old Town Road” having garnered more song units than any other hit in 2019 (according to Rolling Stone 8.7 million to be exact) effectively created a cascade of country and western motifs throughout popular culture that might not otherwise be there had Montero Lamar Hill never uploaded a song to the interweb. One such product hit the newsstands today in the form of the February 2020 issue of Vogue Paris. Page through the issue and there is a 10-page story with none other than Anok Yai by photographer Josh Olins and stylist Géraldine Saglio. Titled “Buffalo Girl,” the story jumps right into the saddle and heads straight for the sunset. If Thomas Wesley can do country, then Anok can surely do it even better. Yee-haw!
